Tree Ecosystem: Introduction and Roadmap

In December we launched the $TREE token, a utility token that powers the Tree ecosystem: Tree News, Tree Terminal and Tree Capital.

You may know me on Twitter as Tree_Of_Alpha, and in this blog post I will go over what the main focus will be for the products I built, Tree News and Tree Terminal, and the community around it, Tree Capital.

The Product: Crypto’s News Trading Terminal

Tree News

The sole purpose of Tree News is simple: aggregating and filtering every piece of news and every tweet on the market to always be on top, and never miss any part of the action. Tree News has been live since 2020, slowly building a strong community over time.

A year ago, Tree News implemented decentralized voting, where users of the service can vote on specific items to share them on Twitter, and it has been working splendidly: the account is sharing faster and more accurately than other News accounts, after a community vote, at all hours of the day.

In the Future, Tree News’s main goal will be to remain the fastest and most comprehensive News aggregator on the market.

Tree Terminal

In Traditional Finance everyone has heard of Bloomberg, the main Terminal with nearly $10b in annual revenue, aggregating news and financial data to empower investors and traders around the world.

Tree Terminal’s first and foremost goal will be replicating this in Crypto, offering large-scale traders a place to monitor the market and react to news in realtime, across a wide range of exchanges and accounts.

The Terminal was built from the ground up by myself for my specific needs: being able to long, or short, as much as possible, as fast as possible, without having to worry about price, quantity, or leverage calculations, across 10 accounts spread on different exchanges.

In its current shape, the Terminal supports:
-native stacking and interative Windows and MacOS notifications.
-modular components you can place, and pin, anywhere on your screen: Charts, Position Tracking, Account Tracking, Command-Line Interface, News Feed, Static Buttons.
-perpetual contract trading on Binance, Bybit and Okx.

Among other things, the Terminal features a wide array of Quality-of-Life improvements including auto-setting leverages, keyboard shortcuts, custom trading sizes, and many, many more customization options.
Every single user has a different setup that suits them, depending on how many screens they use and where they want to place the components.

Tree Capital

The News Feed and Terminal both leverage the strength of the Tree Capital community, a group of 200+ News Traders since 2020, to enhance everyone’s trading performance.

The Terminal makes use of the community by allowing users to get alerts when a certain amount of traders long/short a specific ticker in a short period, in order to never miss an event/news.

The Token: $TREE

$TREE is an ERC20 utility token that powers all Tree services. It was airdropped to early adopters of the service and can be purchased on Uniswap.

Currently, it can be sent to the Tree Treasury to purchase the highest tier of subscriptions on Tree News. All tokens sent to the treasury are held and may be used to reward users who share valuable information that might otherwise have been missed or overlooked.

It is common in Crypto to ask “why does this need a token?”. In most cases like this one it is pretty simple:

• Reward early adopters: it is important to reward the users who contributed to what the project has become.
• Enhanced visibility: Crypto projects with a token do better than projects without one.
• Decentralized ownership: Points that you can buy, sell, or give away to anyone you want, whenever you want.

In the future, the project will aim to offer more perks to users holding a certain quantity of $TREE in their wallet, such as removing all delays from the News platform without having to pay for a subscription.

Roadmap

Over the next few years, the project’s goal will be a simple one: establishing Tree News and Tree Terminal as a must-have for every news, event and narrative trader out there.

By building a secure one-of-a-kind trading platform that anyone can adapt into their own trading station, I believe Tree services can become vital for a lot of traders on the market.

I am not a believer in hard timelines, mostly because no one ever respects them. Instead I will give a series of improvements I am looking forward to in order to achieve the vision, in no particular order. In general, the focus will be spent on making the service and Terminal as good as they can be in the first 2 quarters of 2024, before starting advertizing the product afterwards.

Terminal and News (Priority):

• On-chain trading support: Ethereum, Solana, flavor-of-the-month chains.
• On-chain Perpetuals support: Dydx, GMX.
• Enhanced community features, including trading leaderboard and opt-in copytrading.
• Optimized built-in botting, both on main websocket and Tokyo ones, for all headlines and tweets.
• Continued support for all existing and future news sources on Tree News to remain #1 aggregator.
• … and anything else the community demands.

Marketing (Afterwards):

• Start advertizing the product towards its intended audience (event-driven, high-net-worth traders).
• Offer limited beta tests to long-time subscribers, holders, and renowned traders.
• Apply for listings on major centralized exchanges to offer cheaper buying options to users and increase project visibility.
• Launch ecosystem incentives aimed at onboarding more traders onto the service.

Conclusion

I have always believed you can’t ever go wrong building something you need that does not quite exist yet. So let’s keep building.
